Auction Catalogues

The library at Sotheby's Institute of Art New York holds a collection of auction catalogues mainly from Sotheby's New York auction house, some from Christie's New York, and the Contemporary catalogues from Phillips de Pury & Company.

We receive catalogues for Sotheby's sales in New York and for some of Christie's upcoming New York sales, the last five to ten years of which are kept in offsite storage. ***

***Please Note: As of February 24, 2016 we are temporarily unable to fetch auction catalogs from 2015 and older. You can find auction catalogs from 2016 onward in the library, as well as the past 5 years of Contemporary auction catalogs and the past 10 years of Impressionism and Modern Art auction catalogs. We apologize for this inconvience. For all others, both the Frick Art Reference Library and the Met's Watson Library have substantial collections of auction catalogs.
